New Ofsted Inspection – local feedback!

Please follow the links below for ‘informal feedback’ from Governors who have experienced the new inspection regime. We also have a copy of the information for inspectors, detailing the questions they may ask the GB. Could you currently answer them? www.dag.gb.com On the documents page, under OfSTED

Safeguarding

High on the new inspection agenda. From January 2010 it will be illegal to make a staff appointment unless at least one of the members of the interview panel has successfully undertaken ‘Safer Recruitment’ Training. Please do not rely on your Head in small schools – what happens if & when you wish to appoint a new HT? Next local training: Exeter Racecourse – 25th January. Contact: Anita Davidson on 01392 383366.

Governor Vacancies

If you are having trouble finding Governors please get in touch with Brenda Dutton, she has a list of people who may be interested in a Governor role.

Do you know when your Area Review is and have you discussed the Dataset for your school? If not include these at your next full GB meeting. (The dataset information should be discussed under Part II.)

Changes to the SEF Form

Just when we had got used to it the Self Evaluation Form has changed. The new form was available online from mid July, but you are not expected to have everything in place yet. For this term Ofsted are using both versions. Better to take your time to complete the form properly, rather than rush it through and make mistakes.
