The DAG Board anticipated and has received several enquiries from GBs seeking advice about Academies. The DAG Board has drawn up a Position Statement which it hopes will assist GBs.
There has been a welter of information about Academies from a variety of sources and DAG will endeavour to keep GBs informed of such information.
To that end we have added this additional section to the website and all relevant information will be placed here in future, with alerts on the news page.

Schools that 'convert' to become academies under the Academies Act 2010 retain their Department for Education (DfE) establishment number, but are issued with a new URN by the DfE. The conversion brings about a change in the legal status of a school because the governing body is dissolved. The school therefore closes and reopens and becomes a new legal entity.
There will be no inspection report available for the new school straight away as they are usually inspected for the first time in their second year. An inspection in the first year is unlikely. An Academy will not appear on our website, till they have been inspected.
